Good Homes for Art – a public art initiative
curated by- Shraddha Purnaye
29th October, 2012 – 4th November, 2012
Why Public Art?
Contemporary art practice in India remains a closed door event. Galleries and Museums have become sacred spaces where public fear to trade. There is a vacuum between Indian contemporary art practices and their existence in the minds of public who never encounter it. There exists a need to reposition arts representation of contemporary Indian art specific to the Indian cultural context by making art Accessible. It is important to bridge the distance in art, to engage the viewer.
Good Homes Magazine Profile:
GoodHomes is a part of Worldwide Media Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Times Group. It was launched in India in 2008 as BBC GoodHomes. GoodHomes has grown into the role of India’s leading home and décor magazine that reaches out to contemporary Indian women and the design community. The magazine brand covers a wide variety of areas from home décor, latest trends, to featuring the best in class homes from the country and beyond, as well as etiquette and entertainment insights, presenting a mix of art from different artists, and even covers technology. We have recently launched a completely new, bold & contemporary look for the magazine in the April’2012 issue.
